The park is famous for being large in a large city. Sports range from swimming, running, baseball to boating It's good to visit year-round in early afternoon. Yes it does snow and it's beautiful, just be careful around the rocks There's no charge to go to central park
Someone posted horseback riding, that is incorrect... Best you can get is a horse and carriage ride..
The park is a historical site and is famous for being a large plot of land right smackdab in the middle of NYC, it's meant to introduce nature to an otherwise bustling concrete jungle. It offers free admission, although sports like swimming, running, and boating might vary in expense. Sometimes there is snow, and it is indeed beautiful. Early morning to early afternoon are the best times to go as there are the least people.
