Can you bring bring outside food inside but keep it in your bag?

You could but the museum is also a real hands on experience. The exhibits are best experienced with the least amount of non-essential stuff..

They have lockers. I think you can store it in the locker and have a snack downstairs

You wont need it. And you really dont have a place to stop and eat. So unless its like chips or a candy bar i really dont see you having the time to sit and eat.
