Alan, your question sounds like a memory from the national Basilica… In the Basilica’s crypt lower level, there are chapels funded by congregations from around the world, and small services may be held down there. Washington National Cathedral, to my knowledge, has not held “services from around the world”; it conducts only Episcopal services; however, it has a long history of convening groups of other faiths or denominations to hold their own services in the cathedral space.
I was there in November and the tour guide mentioned nothing about services in the basement, but encouraged us to see the lower level after the guided tour. A lot of beautiful art down there! However, I do recall a couple of the rooms did have some chairs in, similar to a small worship room. Perhaps they do conduct occasional services in the lower level.
I was there probably 30 to 40 yrs ago but each country had there own space to conduct services. Just checking my memory.
I'm not sure. I think the tour guide made mention of small services throughout the week.
I only visited at Christmas and heard the music. . I heard Latin and christmas music.
