As you face the steps, in the ground level on the left side there us a door. This leads into the exhibition area. I spent 20 minutes reading the walls arounf the statue and another 30 or so in the exhibition area. Definitely worth reading as well as seeing
Good advise from Joshalyn. The memorial is precisely that, a statue in a building. You could walk in look at it and walk out. Or you could take in the ambiance, enjoy the views along the mall, read and appreciate the significance of the inscriptions , sit on the steps and watch the people and spend an hour enjoying this place.

Depends on how much time you want to spend there. I would say give yourself 20 minutes to an hour. But if it isnt important to you, you can do it in 10 to 15 mins
