why would you get rid of crushed red pepper as a side topping for your when I grab a slice to go I like to sprinkle some on my pizza

Probably because of COVID. I'm sure they don't want a lot of people touching one container. Perhaps you could ask them for some, and they could give you a little CRP in a container? Or they may have ordered some in little condiment packs :)
