Overdue fees are 50¢ per day for each overdue book or audio CD, and $1.00 per day for each overdue DVD or Bluray. If you're concerned with late charges, your library card also gives you access to Overdrive eBooks which never have any late fees.
As of June 2018 the Kern county libraries charge 50¢ cents per day per book and $1.00 for CDs, DVDs and Blue ray discs. However, Kern county library policy states the following, "The maximum fine per transaction shall not exceed 70% of the replacement cost of the material." You cannot check out any materials if it exceeds over $5.00 dollars. If your fines are under $5 dollars, less than $5 dollars, then you check out materials.
