It goes by what recommendation the doctor writes for. I get 2.5 oz. Every 35 days. In that recommendation, you are allowed a up to a certain amount in each category of product. For example; Smokable Flower, Edibles, etc... Easy to follow, hard to explain...for me anyway. Hope this helps.
It depends on what you are buying and what your prescription is for.
I've never been limited to how much I can buy so I don't think there is a limit because I've bought at one time 8 1/8th, and 16 pens at half a gram and that's a lot and I wasn't capped or anything.
Plus you can keep track of how much you get monthly to use by using the medical Marijuana site. As long as you have a medical card.
