Where does the panel for the transfer switch go? Is it outside? Is it in the garage next to the electric panel?

Hi Rebecca, the transfer switch can go in either location typically. There are a few variables that might point you one way or the other like length of wiring (and hence cost), location of generator, wall space in garage or outside, number and location of existing circuits outside, etc. We do give free in home assessments and any of our salesman can go through all that type of detail with you during our visit to your house.

I'm not an electrician. I don't know. I'm sure someone who works at Eau Gallie Electric will be happy to answer your question. Give them a call.
