Hello, My date of birth is 11-16-1950. My driver license is scheduled to expire 11-16-2020. I have an appointment with the DMV for may 18 2020 for renewal for a real license so that I may fly. Is this date too early or may I retain this date?

DMVs "system" won't let you renew before 2 months. You can upgrade or change something anytime but a upgrade won't change your expiration date. Long story short, no. You cannot renew unless you're within 2 months of it expiring.

You'll need to contact the DMV (this is Google Guides), but I doubt there will be a problem. Paying early is basically giving them money (because you already paid through November, and so they get double for anything before that).
