You cannot schedule an appointment but you can “get in line online.” Then you can wait in line at your own home or elsewhere. You can get a number from home at bmv.ohio.gov, your spot in line is then saved for 4 hours. It is important to utilize the waiting at home feature. If you get in line online and then come to the agency right away, you will then wait the remainder of your wait time at the agency. If you wait 2 hours before you come in, your spot in line will be much closer to the front of the line, if not at the very front of the line, and when you activate your number at the agency, you will spend much less time waiting at the location. Our wait time at Kenny Road averages 1.5-2 hours daily, occasionally 2.5 hours. The system calculates an average wait time for the entire day, and texts you a calculation, but this is sometimes inaccurate because it cannot account for the people who have waited outside for an hour or more before we open the doors in the morning.
In order to comply with social distancing at our agency people come in one or two at a time to get their numbers and then wait outside or in their cars until it's their turn. We have a loud speaker outside that calls the number when it is time for service. It should also send you a text message from the BMV queueing system when it's your turn to come inside.
