Hi there! Often times people get confused when a shelter mentions euthanasia. So the Forsyth Humane Society does NOT euthanize healthy, well behaved and adoptable pets. The euthanasia policy is in place for 3 reasons: If the animal is behaviorally unfit to be released into the public, i.e biting, attacking, and aggressive behavior, if the animal is unwell, meaning the animals quality of life is no longer at it's peak, and if it is requested by the owner due to age/medical reasons.
We adopted out cat Hazmat from the Forsyth County Animal Shelter 8 years ago. It was the best decision we have ever made. Hazmat aka “Harley” the name the shelter gave him has been the love of our lives ever since. We recommend everyone to adopt from their local animal shelter. So many terrific pets are awaiting to adopted there. Plus you get your pets with shots and spay and neutering included for the low cost of adoption. You simply can not beat adopting from the shelter. Love, Hazmat and family.
