Drive around frantically until you find a police officer. They can renew it on the spot. Just show them your I.D.
Have someone else drive you to the DMV. Bring your Social Security card and expired ID with you. Bring proof of address like a utility bill also. Bring any kind of paper work that you think you might need, just in case. And then bring a snack.
