In terms of diversity, we are a 50% woman of color, bilingual owned business. About 78% of our team identifies as female, 65% are people of color (Latinx, African American, Asian American), 64% of us are bi or tri-lingual, some of us identify as non-binary. Since we opened in 2013 we have actively sought to recruit a diverse team who represents our city and believe that we are made up of a wide array of people. I hope that you get a chance to experience our diverse staff and that we serve you in a way that enchants. --Areli P.S. Thanks to all for the coffee compliments.
Short answer... They don't need to be because they have amazing coffee and aren't run by a huge corporation breathing over their necks. And they have AMAZING coffee!☕ It's like getting coffee in New York, they have character (attitude)!
My wife and I enjoyed the drinks we had, but there was nothing about their staff that stood out as warm and inviting. We do not live in durham, so it was just a one time experience.
I've had similar experiences with the staff. As a white male in my 50s I haven't thought about the lack of diversity in baristas as much, but I agree, they have a lot of unnecessary attitude! They aren't nearly as friendly as most Starbucks employees are. The drinks are exceptional though and the main reason I visit from time to time. I'm not a regular customer by any means. Hope this helps.
