Joint custody doesnt mean he won't get child support. Child support is paid to the parent who takes care of the child full time. Joint custody means you both share equal rights. Residential custody means the child lives with you.

Unless u already have full custody his chances r as good as yours..unless u have enough dirt on him, which changes the playing field.. good luck
