Elizabeth, it might be helpful if you dropped in to meet the dogs & staff. They may have a special going on and many times the best information on a specific animal will come from the volunteers that walk/feed the animals and spend time with them (as opposed to the paid staff that answer the phones & read the notes--and do a great job, but don't get to spend as much one on one time with the animals.) You will want to interact with the dogs before adoption. All small dogs are not going to respond the same!
