How long do they let you stay? Would you have your own room? Is there men and women? How do you go about getting in, do you just show up there and sign up?

There are both women and men who are residents of the shelter. I don't think you would have your own room. I'm pretty sure you'd have your own bunk or your own bed and a place to store your clothes.I would try to contact them to find out more details.
