$475 (2022) A cord of wood is more than will fit on a regular pickup truck. Our cord measures out 4 feet high by 16 feet long, and the width of our wood is 18 - 20 inches. A true cord, is often described as 4x4x8 or 4x2x16, but most fireplaces cannot accommodate 24 inch (2 feet) wood. So in Kansas City, most people sell firewood that is 18 to 20 inches. South of here in OK, AR and parts of the Ozarks, they cut wood 12-16 inches. So they get 3 rows of wood in a cord, (16 inches, 3 times equals 4 feet), so stacked out it would be 4 feet high by 24 feet long by the width of their wood which is 12-16 inches. To confuse everyone, people sell something called a "Face Cord" and a face cord is 4 feet high by 8 feet long by the width of the wood, which, if you are in KC, is generally 18-20 inches, but can sometimes be 12-16 inches. So a "face cord" is generally 1/2 of a cord of wood, but sometimes is less than that. Our measurements are 1 cord = 4'x16'x18"-20" 1/2 cord = 4'x8'x18"-20"
