The guides are correct! At one time the Goodman Theatre was housed within the Art Institute of Chicago. We moved to our location on Dearborn and Randolph in 2001. The space we formerly occupied at the Art Institute is now where the Modern Wing is located. In fact there is a plaque marking center stage of the old space in the Modern Wing.
Goodman was once part of the Art Institute, but has been a separate facility for years. The old Goodman theater is still there but dark. Goodman is the preeminent regional theater in Chicago.
