Yes it is. I was just there a month ago and had a blast. The keepers were very available and friendly. Of course with no crowd it made it seem like I had the place to myself. Highly recommend going in the winter.
Definitely. Do the indoor exhibits like the small mammal house, the primate preserve, etc. The crowds are smaller too which might give you more access to the keepers, though they're around at posted times anyway.
