It depends on the space and application. If it's in a space where water is being used, than drywall is not the right material to use. If it is in a dry space then take proper width and height measurements and go with what your budget can afford. Just don't buy Chinese dry wall its toxic.
There is not such a thing as best drywall. It all depends on what you need it for. 5/8 thickness is for the ceiling. 1/2 regular is for regular walls in the house. 1/2 purple is for walls in the bathroom. And 1/4 is for light projects. In conclusion is your project is regular walls, your choice is only one, 1/2 drywall. I this help.
