I would take it to a local auto parts store such as O'Reilly autozone advanced ect. They can hook you car up to a code reader and help you look up what the code means. Then you can decide from there whether it's worth taking it into Kia for the repair. But be careful though deals are notorious for over charging
U should carry your automobile to one of the Auto part store bc they can scan it to find out what code it's putting out that's causing the check engine light to be on. That way when you go to Kia U will know exactly what's going on and they don't have to charge you all that money they can just give your price "on what is exactly wrong with the check engine light
I don't know their protocol ,give them a call ,they may have a fee but will discount it if the repair is done there
