I myself after brain surgery needed ride assistance I set it up as I booked the flight online. There's an area that you can mark for ride assistance on the bottom your reservation. But also you may ask the ticket booth and they'll have a chair for you ASAP. They were ready for me out of every gate I was going to Virginia and back to see my grandson and daughter. When you arrive at the airport you need to speak with your airline carrier abd request assistance. They will assign someone to you to and from thr gate for all legs of your flight including between gates.
