They discontinued using carts in the CLT airport a few years ago. They were for handicapped and special needs folks anyway. Now they use only wheelchairs to help those people. If you are close to making your flight sometimes you can ask the flight attendant if you can move your seat on the flight to the front. Probably a lot of people on the flight have a connection. You just have to do your best to get to your next gate and if you don't make you go to the Special Services Desk and they will help you. Sounds like you made the flight though!
Did not happen! I ran past one cart that they had filled with luggage, not people. Customer service is not their priority, obviously!!
