The city of Albany needs to back up its no smoking in parks with signs that say no smoking. This dog park is nice depending on the day. The ,local neighbors tend to think it is a neighborhood dog park rather than a city dog park. You must stand up for yourself there calmly or these neighbors of the dog park make it a tense place to be. Do not leave your dog teathered unless it is aggressive. The dogs feel vulnerable when teathered in an enclosed area surrounded by,untethered dogs. in fact the untethered dogs may surround your dog because you are making the teathered dog vulnerable. A bunch of old foogies are a miserable group. Can't use the park at night as the same group sits on it for 3 hours at a time. I,guess it's their only chance to socialize.
Yes! This is a free dog park provided by the city of Albany. Anyone with a non aggressive dog is welcome. The difference can be quite rambunctious when there are a lot of them and could easily knock over adults let alone small/young children, so it may not be best for little kids. Or at least make sure they are well supervised.
