I had thought that kelly park was based on a first come first serve basis. I found a website online which mentioned that you can call in advance and make reservations. If I didn't make any, what's the chances of me getting a camping spot?

It's tough to get in there, but don't let that prevent you from trying. The park does fill up very quickly so go early.

In high season it will be difficult

I'd say almost no chance.

It is first come first serve for day visit to spring. Camping is registration or you can cross your fingers and arrive a see.

Holiday weekend? Very slim. No harm in trying to call first thing in the morning though.
