I have been adopted by a stray cat and I would really like to get him checked out and go through the process of adopting him. Would this be an affordable place to get him checked?

Yes. They have the option of enrolling in free vaccinations for life in which you pay a one-time fee and then only pay for office visits after that (my paraphrase). See them for how it works. :)
