Yes! We opened a brand new butcher counter this spring which features a wide variety of locally-sourced, pasture-raised beef and pork cuts as well as housemade sausages, seasoned steaks, kebab skewers, and pre-made burger patties. Our butchers are happy to cut/portion to your preference!
The selection here is actually not small. The Co-op's butcher counter is an old fashioned full-service, whole-animal butcher shop. They bring in animals whole from local farms and fabricate the various cuts in-house. Only so many of each cut is available from a single animal, so that is what you see. It is excellent. What you normally see in meat counters at chain grocery stores is there because their marketing department decided that shoppers are more likely to buy meat from a case that looks full. So they bring in meat aggregated from many individual animals in a packing plant and unload the cuts from a box into the meat case. The way the Co-op sells meat is better because it does not require large-scale carbon emissions to ship their animals to packing plants then distributors before the store. It also offers the highest (and honestly, superb) quality for lower prices. Then, as mentioned, if you don't see what you want just ask the butcher and they will cut it for you.
Not like whole food but it is small..but they do have raw meat..their best things are veggies and cheese..
