Does the Social Security Dept send e-mails to people asking them confirm their benefits on-line or is this a SCAM e-mail? I have been receiving Social Security for the past 6 years & have NEVER EVER received such an e-mail before? Thx.

Use common sense.SSA does not send you anything like that. They know what they are sending every month and you should have received notification of the amount you are to receive each month.
