Does anyone know if I'll be able to just book the 2 hotel nights in Hawaii I have for free and extend the trip (the travel days) to stay a few days with a friend who lives there?

I was told
that you had to paid for additional hotel nights, plus you must leave on Tuesday and return on Thursday.
