Depends on the event... during gun shows they "check" firearms (aka hold ammunition and install a zip-tie in the barrel or firing mechanism) and then you are welcome to carry. I don't know of any other events that permit any form of carry.

No, and if you're not an NC resident there are not only local laws you need to know but also reciprocity with NC from your state you'll need to verify before even taking a firearm into the state.
