Don't hold your breath. I went down there and renewed mine in april of 2017 and still nothing. They don't answer the phones and their voicemail boxes are always full.
They move real slow, I sent my passport in (OCT '17, at the Miami office), They told me I should expect it sometime in February 2018. Which is ridiculous. Besides, they never answer the phone at Maimi office, and when you do get through, they say the only update is that's it's in Trinidad at the passport office and NO other update available,fools.

I am getting very frustrated! I was able to set an appointment to go in and get my new MRP 3 weeks ago. Someone called me and left a message saying I need to call and make an appointment to come in when I already did???. Now Ive been calling for 3 days to find out whats going on and no one is picking up. How rediculous!!!
I sent my machine readable passport in to be renewed late October 2017, it's set to expire March 2018. The first week in January 2018 they called to let me know it was ready to be picked up, or I can send them the old one for them to void it and they'll send me the new one once they receive the old one. Also, keep in mind that I was renewing the new passports that are required now. Make sure you go to the website and follow directions to the T. Prices and all other directions are on the website.
Exactly what keron said! Also it takes about 3 months because they require EVERYone to get passport now!
