[EN] Had a very good experience at the Consulate General with my complicated, separate naturalization procedure and the associated initial application for a German passport. Clerk/ consulate officer "JUTTA" was very helpful, friendly and accommodating! [EN] Had a very good experience at this German Consulate General with regard to my difficult special acquisition of citizenship and my first-time application for the German passport. Excellent and prompt service. We have booked an appointment in advance, collected all the documents. It was a swift check in during our appointment day, short wait in the line and great interaction with J. She was very helpful during the process and also when we missed some of the paperwork. The visa was done very fast. Thank you.

Yes, but it is a long process. Takes about three years and lots of paperwork to send in. Check the consulate websites. There is a whole page explaining the process to follow. You can also hire a lawyer. I was quoted $3000 for the lawyer to do the paperwork.

Dear Sirs: I have a German passport, but I need to renew it. I want to travel to Europe as soon as I can. Can you tell me: 1. Can I re-new through mail or online (I am 69 years old) 2. How much would it cost? 3. What are my steps to renew?

Victor Wotzkow | Sep 20, 2021
Hesham Mourad | Sep 20, 2021

My understanding you need to renew in person. The following documents are required for the application (original + 1 photo copy): completed application form two identical recent passport photos your birth certificate stating the exact place of birth marriage certificate, previous passport (data page with photo) valid residence permit in the US, driver license You need to reserve an appointment through the website as well. The cost is 81 euro for renewal and 32 for expedited service.
