I just moved into this house and the owner just pulled the carpet up from the floors inthe house and did nothing with the floor after, it is peices of nails and staples sticking out of the floor, I need to buy carpet to put down, and if so how much?

Measure the rooms in square feet that you wish to cover (Length times width) and you will have a ballpark estimate ti work with for pad and carpet material. The old staples are probably best taken out ahead of time as that would add to the installation cost.

As tony b said, you need to measure the room you want the carpet in, lenth x width and take does measurement to home depot and they will let you know what you need and price. Carpet price goes by feet, so price is going to be different depending on carpet quality.
