The historic structures at Missouri Town 1855 were built at their original locations across 8 counties in western Missouri between 1822 and 1860. In 1963, work began to relocate the Luttrell Settler’s Cabin to the Missouri Town 1855 property. That and the Chevis Tavern were the first two buildings moved to the site, which opened to the public in 1965. The last building reconstructed at the site was the Walton-Copple Hog Shed, built ca. 1830 and reassembled in 1987.
All of it has been recently reconstructed from different historic homes from across the state with new additions almost every other year.
