Saw a segment on this place in the morning news weeks back. Never knew much what it was all about, so did some research. Come to find out, they are the reason all the hiking trails were shut down. Never could figure out why all of a sudden all those conservation sign were put up everywhere. It not Conservation Land, it Jackson County. Hiked those trails for years, what’s up that there need for protection there with all the fake conservation area signs? Then it clicked with the news segment. That is where Missouri Town 1855 is. Just how much land is allotted to them? Because it not very big on the map, yet several hundred acres of dense woodland park land with miles of hiking trails, that don’t even come near their park are all shut down because of of this organization. Signs look cheap, basic and homemade and look fake and unofficial. Wouldn’t be surprised if Missouri Town put them up themselves. Why be so petty MT1855?

The historic structures at Missouri Town 1855 were built at their original locations across 8 counties in western Missouri between 1822 and 1860. In 1963, work began to relocate the Luttrell Settler’s Cabin to the Missouri Town 1855 property. That and the Chevis Tavern were the first two buildings moved to the site, which opened to the public in 1965. The last building reconstructed at the site was the Walton-Copple Hog Shed, built ca. 1830 and reassembled in 1987.
Pets are not permitted in Missouri Town, sorry!
We were just there two weeks ago and it was $7 per person. Not sure about any special events.
If I recall it was 7 bucks per person for the ticket, kids between 5-13 were 4 bucks. Kids below that was free.
The elk & bison both came quickly to the fences when they saw people. They will lose interest a little quickly if you do not have carrots or apples. I will be bringing carrots next time
