Not required, but during their peak times it certainly does help. Otherwise it could be up to an hr long wait.
I've been a couple times and never needed a reservation. They were pretty empty on Memorial day and I tend to go between the lunch and dinner hours on the weekends. Without a reservation it would probably be like any other place for wait times if going during peak hours.
Only required if you plan on coming during peak times on the weekend
