You can assure good seats and no wait with "big shot" tickets online, they're about twice the price. Else as everyone says, stand in line, buy a bottle of wine or whiskey and some glasses and enjoy the wait, Preservation Hall is BYOB. The music is surreal, the vibe and space gorgeous. I got in line 30 mins in advance on a Thursday for the 8pm show, got seats right up front on cushion on the floor, right under the bands nose. Super.
Get them at the door. They do multiple showings per day. Just line up outside 30 minutes before showtime (showtimes are on the website) and you'll be fine. You can also reserve tickets on the website but that does cost more.
First know this. If you want to sit - and it is on benches - buy you tickets online, and do it early. Like days to weeks early. It will be so worth it. If you try the day before or day of or at the door.. you will be standing for the whole show. Second. It is worth it. This is a must see part of history. Standing or sitting. Third. Bring some extra cash 10s and 20s to lubricate the band for requests. Forth.. be very early. It helps

We walked to the location and stood in line. I beleive they accept phone reservations as well but we just walked in 15 minutes early and stood in the line. If you are too far back in the line, you end up standing at the back of the room. I think the room fits around 30 people....
