Is there a short cut to get to the lake? Trying to get there with kids and the hour hike would be difficult for them.

The only trail I know is the diamond mountain trail which would be a 2.5 mile hike to the lake and 2.5 miles back. I'd recommend ramapo lake or Greenwood lake. Much easier to get to and more to see
