Wanted to go in a swamp boat/ air boat tour. The lady stated she did not recommend those from this visitor center. She continued to give "environmental" reasons and something about hurting the wildlife. Seriously??? We went on one of the trips ( independently) and it was simply amazing. These swamp people love the swamp and their animals they encounter daily. Amazing. They are also people who live in these areas and support the local wildlife federations. (They love to hunt and fish). Fyi... The bus driver to the "swamp" had more information and history than this lady at the center.

My good friend just encountered this: So NEVER again will I set foot in New Orleans Starting with the hotel concierge pushing for an over priced swamp tour, when asking for directions. Literally found the same tour and service $30 cheaper than his offer after looking at google. Walking around the french quarter and having to literally step over passed out junks. Almost getting mugged, except for quick and alert reactions from Ayden and myself. Being hussled and hassled everywhere. Junks crawling over the city and the hotel. We decided not to stay and drive an extra 6 hours to Galveston. (after having done already 11hours) To find out our freshly fuelled tank of gas has been emptied while out car was with the vallet for 1 hour. FU New Orleans! I can’t wait for the next hurricane!

There are several parking garages in the city with varied rates according to your needs. This Visitor center does not have parking.

When i visited i went by bus. The steamboat was a seperate event. Not sure if they have both in one. It was so much fun. You might want to ask a local. Im from NYC. Good luck enjoy your trip!
If you are staying at a downtown hotel, it's recommended to leave your vehicle parked there. To use public transit unless you are leaving the downtown area. -Neecy from the New Orleans Visitor's Center.

Hello Iva from NOLA! April is lovely. The city is rebuilding in many areas but hasn't stopped anyone from enjoying themselves.
