USS SLATER is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitation varies by day and is largely determined by weather. Tours continue rain or shine. In the summer, an early start is usually best.
We went in the morning and it wasn't very busy. Also the water surrounding the boat seemed very calm in the morning.
They have tours every hour or so throughout the day. It does get warm so take that in to account of you want to beat the heat.
We went in the morning and it was very nice.
Anytome of day is good. But this week is very hot. Try this friday i think it will be cooler. They do tours often
Anytime during hours, tours have 10 to 15 people each, it's nice!
We visited it on april and of course there was not a lot of people. This gave us a long time for each explanation and comment about life in this boat.
Early afternoon in the spring and fall are great! It is absolutely beautiful! However, in the summer months I would definitely suggest earlier in the day before the heat has had a chance to make the whole ship sweltering hot.
Dito. During the hot summer months I would say go early in the morning. a warship is a big hunk of metal and it does get hot. Anytime of day though you're going to have a great time.
