Veterans who served on Destroyer Escorts are always admitted at no charge. As part of the Blue Star Museums program, active duty military, with valid ID, are admitted at no charge through Labor Day. All other veterans are charged admission. USS SLATER is owned and operated by the private, non-profit Destroyer Escort Historical Museum. The Museum receives no regular Federal, State, or local government funding. It is supported through the generosity and patriotism of individuals, corporations, and foundations.
