Can you launch your own kayak there?

You may want to check if they're still doing construction, because they were when we went last year, and they were not permitting personal kayaks for some reason. But they were permitting their own rentals. Just CHECK FIRST :) And if they are permitting personal launches, there is a small fee. I think like $10.

Yes, there is plenty of public parking there. Another place to launch kayaks, and canoes that is extremely nice, is in Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge. I have launch my own kayak many times at both areas.
