When I call the main line at the shelter no one answers it just takes me around and around and around and around is there a number where I could call to get my animal back

Call 311 and ask them to connect you to the C.A.C.C. because you need to speak with a live person and they will patch you through. I've done this many times myself. It's the only way I know of to speak with anyone there.

You have to come in to the shelter to verify that it is your pet. No information can be given over the phone. You may do a "virtual search" of the animals in the shelter at www.petherbor.com/chicago
