We are camping at backpack site 1 next week and are wondering if there is firewood out there already or if we have to hike it in? I have tried calling the park but keep getting the answering machine and they won't respond to messages left.

They dont like you bringing in firewood from different locations. As long as you buy it there or in that county you should be fine.

That is some rugged terrain and I would definitely be prepared for some chilly tempatures. We went in for the day and stayed at a lodge but I am sure there is wood available for delivery at a cost, I wish I could give you more information have a safe trip and enjoy.

Pretty sure parks aren't staffed 24/7after Oct 1st. Firewood may or may not be available to buy in the park so I would pick some up on the way up. Usually not much around those campsites, gets picked clean
