Hi Jed, that is a very fair question. We charge membership fees that are commiserate with the programming we offer. In turn, for those members who cannot afford the full price, we offer financial assistance based on income and special circumstances. We do this for membership, programs, child care, and camp so that everyone in our communities have access to all the Y has to offer to improve health in spirit, mind and body. We'd love to further discuss our cause with you, if you call the Welcome Center at Hale and ask to speak to Sue or Erin they would be happy to talk about our mission. Thank you!
It would probably be advisable to approach the director of the YMCA directly about this question. However the YMCA does offer a sliding scale of membership dues and free and discount programs. Nevertheless somehow the facility, employees, programs need to be supported and membership dues are part of that upkeep.
