There is a bit of a disconnect when using the terms kill shelter and no-kill shelter. A kill shelter holds animals until they run out of room. Then the animals that are deemed the least adoptable go on a short list and are euthanized to make room for newer intakes. This is very common in city run shelters where they do not have the ability to refuse animals picked up by animal control. This is more a problem of lack of resources and apathy on the public's part towards curbing pet population numbers in humane ways. A no-kill shelter doesn't have the same short list practice. They do not euthanize for space, instead only making that sort of decision for animals that are not able to be rehabilitated, either medically or behaviorally. Animals remain with the shelter until they are adopted if they are able to be made adoptable. Liberty Humane, using the above definitions, is a no-kill shelter. I hope this clears up any confusion.
They do not euthanize for crowding or capacity issues. I believe they may euthanize owner surrendered pets with aggression
Yes that is true
Just because they hold animals doesn't mean they are a no kill.I was looking to verify if they are officially a no kill shelter, if not, they do kill animals if the shelter gets too full. Many kill shelter hold animals but only for a certain time period, they still kill them.
