What's your rights if someone gets your dog removed from your yard despite it being secured, fenced with a house ect. Is there any documents that the dog catcher would need to leave at the owners home?

Laws vary according to what county you live in. In my county a dog cannot be removed from a secure property. Notices will be left, animal contrtol officers are REQUIRED to leave a notice on your door, explaining why your dog was taken, where your dog is being held, and for you to claim it by a certain time (here is 1 week) or they will either out it up for adoption or destroy it. But like I said.....even barking or vicious dogs, when kept securely in your own yard and unable to get out, ...animal control cannot take them. That being said...hostile neighbors have been known to let dogs out of someones yard and then call animal control to pick up a so-called 'stray dog. THEN animal control will take the dog and the neighbor lies and says they don't know it's owner.....so the animal control officer can't leave you a note. I hope you find a way to get your dog back.

You would have been notified. You are normally provided a warning first. However your pet would not have gone to the Humane Society. It would go to Greenville County Animal Care near Cherrydale.
