Best that you go to guest relations, have all the paperwork ready, and they will sort it out.
It should work. We had to do this for our Volcano Bay tickets which is Universal's water park. They were purchased for us by someone that wasn't going to the park with us. We had to have him send a picture of his ID to get the tickets.
