You use regular ticket to enter park. You use express pass at rides that accept express pass. You will have to scan it each time. Get a lanyard and put around neck- will save time getting it out each ride.

The express pass is for the rides only if under. A certain time. I thinkn1 hour. If over that they will give you a time to come back to ride. You may need another ticket to park hop depending on what ticket you bought.
