I never had to reserve anything. I just got back yesterday. I never had to wait for guests to leave either and I didn't go until 1 pm some days
No you don't need reservations
No reservations are needed for the Universal parks. But arrive early because when they reach capacity you will have to wait for guests to leave to be allowed to enter.
